Fishing

Complete fishing skill definition with all catchable content

Fishing is the aquatic extraction skill, providing raw fish that become the primary healing food when cooked. From tiny shrimp in coastal shallows to the legendary Leviathan Scale-fish in waters touched by ancient sea monsters, fishing feeds the world's adventurers. The skill encompasses six distinct methods — netting, bait fishing, fly fishing, cage trapping, harpooning, and specialized techniques for the rarest catches.

Lore
The first fishers cast their lines from crude hooks of bone into rivers teeming with silver. They learned the language of water — where fish gather, when they feed, how currents carry them. This ancient knowledge has been passed down through generations at every dock and riverbank in the world. The ocean yields her bounty grudgingly. Coastal folk speak of the shrimp that come in with the tide, the lobsters that hide in reef crevices, the great tuna that run like silver thunder through deep water. But the deep ocean holds terrors too — sharks that patrol with dead eyes, swordfish with their lethal bills, and in the deepest trenches, the nightmarish anglerfish. And then there are the stories the old fishers tell in hushed tones. Of ghostfish that glow in spirit-touched lakes. Of magma eels that writhe in volcanically heated pools. Of the voidfin that swims between realities. And greatest of all, the Leviathan Scale-fish — spawn of the great sea monster itself, armored in scales like polished steel, found only in waters where the Leviathan has been slain. Cast your line, and see what answers.
